Cryogenic Two-Phase Flow: Applications to Large-Scale Systems by N. N. Filina,

Cryogenic Two-Phase Flow: Applications to Large-Scale Systems by N. N. Filina,
Cryogenic systems that involve two-phase (vapor-liquid) flows are widely used in industries such as aerospace, metallurgy, power engineering, and food production, as well as in high energy physics research. The purpose of this book is to describe characteristic features of cryogenic systems involving two-phase flow, create mathematical models of these systems, and then show how the models may be used to develop optimal designs for practical cryogenic systems. The models are examined using analytical and numerical techniques, and then the predictions are compared to experimental measurements. Since transient phenomena can produce severe and unexpected effects in cryogenic systems, the authors pay particular attention to this important topic. Examples in the book are drawn from cryogenic fluid transport, gasification, and the stabilization of superconducting magnets. Much of this work is related to the development of large Russian systems in the areas of space technology, energy research, and particle physics. This book, the first devoted solely to cryogenic two-phase flow, will be a valuable reference for cryogenic engineers and scientists.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy by John H. Nelson,
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy by John H. Nelson,
This is the only how-to volume that investigates the spectroscopy of a variety of nuclides other than H and C in depth. It contains extensive reference material and numerous problems, most of which include real spectra. It is written to provide users with the knowledge necessary to choose the most appropriate experiment to obtain the best quality spectra with the ability to fully interpret the data. The book covers basic theory of NMR spectroscopy, spectrum measurement, the chemical shift and examples for selected nuclei, symmetry and NMR spectroscopy, spin-spin coupling and NMR spin systems, typical magnitude of selected coupling constants, nuclear spin relaxation, the nuclear overhauser effect, editing C NMR spectra, two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, dynamic NMR spectroscopy, lanthanide shift reagents (LSR), NMR of solids. For NMR spectroscopists and analytical chemists.

Measurement Systems Analysis - Analysis of the complete process of obtaining measurements. This includes the collection of equipment, operations, procedures, software and personnel that affects the assignment of a number to a measurement characteristic.

Interaction-free measurement - In physics, interaction-free measurement is a type of measurement in quantum mechanics that detects the position or state of an object without an interaction occurring between it and the measuring device. Examples include the Renninger negative-result experiment, the Elitzur-Vaidman bomb-testing problem, and certain double-cavity optical systems.

Superconducting magnetic energy storage - Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) systems store energy in the magnetic field created by the flow of direct current in a superconducting coil which has been cryogenically cooled to a temperature below its superconducting critical temperature.
